Very interesting your comments about Vanishin...Hi!. Very interesting your comments about Vanishing Point. I saw it some time ago. I think you are right when you say that there is some philosophical background in the foundations. You qualify Kowlasky as a rebel and I agree. I would add that he is a rebel in the line that it is rebel Jim Stark in Rebel Without a Cause, don’t you think? I mean, though the impossibility of comparing such things I find some common factors, and not the less of them is perhaps their inability to understand the society which they live. It can be argued that it is not a problem of understanding it but rather a question of accepting it or not. Well, obviously they don’t accept it either.

I think these are good times to consider about whether our society is worth to be accepted. The current crisis all around the world and the dilution of the personal capacities, values, ideas, and dreams within the common stream of thought make appear Kowalsky (and the stimulating character Super Soul) not just as a rebel but really as a hero.

I would add that the original title of the film suits it better than the Spanish translation. A Vanishing point (Punto de Fuga) is in fact, for Kowalsky, the way to nowhere. Hi is never going to arrive, no matter how many kilometres he drives. It is a moving, unreachable place, clearly a sour metaphor (masterfully got in the photography of the film) of what one feels about changing our society. Zenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08913919796494225549noreply@blogger.com
